MEET OUR FAMILY
The Heart of GrayMare Farm
2006-2023
CATORI
Native American name meaning “Spirit.”
Catori, our first family horse, is the soul behind GrayMare Farm and the reason our story began. She was more than just a horse – she was a teacher, a partner, and our steady with a comforting presence who helped shape everything we’ve built. She was the horse people call “once in a lifetime.” Gentle, trustworthy, and endlessly kind, she was our old faithful.
It was Catori who first taught Christina how to ride, and with her, Christina’s confidence grew, her dreams took root, and our lifelong love for horses truly began. Catori was part of our family, through every milestone in Christina’s life, she was there – steady and proud.
Just two weeks before our barn was completed – a dream we had long worked toward – we lost her to colic.
Though her time with us ended far too soon, her Spirit will live on with every sunrise, every animal we care for, and every story we tell.
PRISCILLA
One Stop Shop 3/18/20
Pricilla came to GrayMare Farm as a two-year-old with the plan to be Christina’s all-around show horse. Pricilla’s first two years of showing were very successful; she was everything Christina was looking for in a show partner – beautiful, consistent, willing, and enjoyable to ride and show.
Unfortunately, her plan took an unexpected turn as she developed several health concerns. Pricilla is currently enjoying a slower pace of life, being spoiled daily as she rests and recovers. When she is ready…God willing…she will step back into the ring, not just as a competitor, but as a true comeback story – stronger, wiser, and just as graceful as ever.
DIXIE
RWS Dixielanddelight 6/9/22
Dixie holds a special place in the story of GrayMare Farm – she was the beginning of something built together. She was the first filly Christina and Kyle purchased together, a ranch-bred baby with quiet strength and promise that felt right from the start, the day after their wedding.
From her first lunge to her first halter to her first ride, Christina has put her heart and soul into breaking and training Dixie with patience, trust, and determination. Step by step, ride by ride, Christina has a special bond with Dixie, which makes stepping into the show pen so exciting – the love, hard work, and their history together are what dreams are made of.
WHISPER
PSU Blue Clear Sky 3/11/21
Whisper’s story – which is a true full circle moment – began in June of 2021 as Christina stood in the field at the Penn State Equine Science barn taking her graduation pictures. Whisper – then a young filly – wandered over as if she already knew Christina; gentle, curious, and unafraid. Fast forward almost two years, Whisper went up for online bidding at the annual Penn State sale, at which point she officially became part of GrayMare Farm.
Christina and Whisper have had and always will have a special bond. Most recently, Whisper has become Christina’s partner in showmanship. She has stepped up and accepted that challenge, and we are all cheering for their success.
LIZZY
RWS Dixielanddelight 6/9/22
Izzy’s story is one of those moments you don’t plan – but somehow, they turn out to be exactly right. While scrolling on social media, Christina found Izzy; she was big, flashy, and beautiful. Big and flashy was something we didn’t have here on GrayMare Farm. Though purchased on a whim, from the moment she arrived at the farm, it felt like she always belonged. Beyond her striking appearance and breathtaking sky-blue eyes, she brings a great mind – is willing, thoughtful, and eager to learn.
Izzy is currently in North Carolina with our trainer, Maryah, at MC Show Horses. We try to visit her monthly and receive frequent updates on her training progress. We are very excited about her future, as her show career is just beginning.
TED
PSU Blue Clear Sky 3/11/21
Christina’s current trainer at MC Show Horses, Maryah, introduced Ted to Christina. She knew he was meant to be part of our GrayMare Farm family as soon as she laid eyes on him. He is a beautiful sorrel with a flaxen mane and tail – bred to be a western all-around prospect. He is currently living at GrayMare Farm until his two-year-old year, when he will begin working in a professional training program. He spends most of his time running around, playing, and grazing in the fields with his cousin Huckelberry and his Uncle Phin. The three of them will be going to MC Show Horses in the fall of 2026.
