MEET OUR FAMILY

The Heart of GrayMare Farm
2006-2023

CATORI

Native American name meaning “Spirit”

Catori, our first family horse, is the soul of GrayMare Farm and the reason our story began. She was more than a horse – she was a teacher, a partner, and our steady,  comforting presence who helped shape everything we’ve built. She was the horse people call “once-in-a-lifetime.” Gentle, trustworthy, and endlessly kind, she was our old faithful.

It was Catori who first taught Christina to ride.  With Catori, Christina’s confidence grew, her dreams took root, and our lifelong love for horses truly began. Catori was part of our family.  Through every milestone in Christina’s life, Catori was there – steady and proud.

Just two weeks before our barn was completed – a dream we had long worked toward – we lost her to colic.

Though her time with us ended far too soon, her spirit will live on in every sunrise, every animal we care for, and every story we tell.

PRICILLA

One Stop Shop 3/18/20

Pricilla came to GrayMare Farm as a two-year-old with plans to become Christina’s all-around show horse. Pricilla’s first two years of showing were very successful; she was everything Christina was looking for in a show partner – beautiful, consistent, willing, and a pleasure to ride and show.

Unfortunately, her plan took an unexpected turn when she developed several health concerns. Pricilla is currently enjoying a slower pace of life, being spoiled daily as she rests and recovers. When she is ready…God willing…she will step back into the ring, not just as a competitor but as a true comeback story – stronger, wiser, and just as graceful as ever.

DIXIE

RWS Dixielanddelight 6/9/22

Dixie holds a special place in the story of GrayMare Farm – she was the beginning of something built together. She was the first filly Christina and Kyle purchased together, a ranch-bred baby with quiet strength and promise who felt right from the start, the day after their wedding.

From her first lunge to her first halter to her first ride, Christina has put her heart and soul into breaking and training Dixie with patience, trust, and determination. Step by step, ride by ride, Christina has built a special bond with Dixie, which makes stepping into the show pen so exciting –their love, hard work, and history together are what dreams are made of.

WHISPER

PSU Blue Clear Sky 3/11/21

Whisper’s story –a true full-circle moment – began in June 2021, when Christina stood in the field at the Penn State Equine Science barn, taking her graduation pictures. Whisper – then a young filly – wandered over as if she already knew Christina, gentle, curious, and unafraid. Fast-forward almost two years, when Whisper went up for online bidding at the annual Penn State sale, at which point she officially became part of GrayMare Farm.

Christina and Whisper have had, and always will have, a special bond. Currently, she is enjoying the warm weather at MC Show Horses in North Carolina.

IZZY

Her Tightfittin Jeans 4/23/24

Izzy’s story is one of those moments you don’t plan – but somehow, they turn out to be exactly right. While scrolling through social media, Christina found Izzy; she was big, flashy, and beautiful. Big and flashy was something we didn’t have here at GrayMare Farm. Though purchased on a whim, from the moment she arrived at the farm, she felt like she always belonged. Beyond her striking appearance and breathtaking sky-blue eyes, she brings a great mind – she is willing, thoughtful, and eager to learn.

For most of 2026, Izzy was in North Carolina with our trainer, Maryah, at MC Show Horses. We are happy to have her back home and very excited about her future, as her show career is just beginning. Keep an eye out for her in the show pen this coming year!

TED

RS Have U Met Ted 1/27/25

Christina’s current trainer, Maryah, at MC Show Horses, introduced Ted to Christina. Ted was one of Katie Van Slyke’s 2025 foals.  Christina knew he was meant to be part of our GrayMare Farm family the moment she laid eyes on him. He is a beautiful sorrel with a flaxen mane and tail – bred to be a western all-around prospect. He is currently at GrayMare Farm and will begin working in a professional training program during his two-year-old year. He spends most of his time running around, playing, and grazing in the fields with his cousin Huckleberry. The two of them will be going to MC Show Horses in the fall of 2026.

PANCAKE

LL No Filters 4/3/22

Pancake came to GrayMare Farm in July 2026.  She is currently the only foal out of Christina’s former show mare, “Chili,” aka Bettin Im Best.  Together, Chili and Christina won numerous titles, and Christina owes much of her success in the AQHA industry to Chili.  Chili is a multiple World and Congress Champion.  We are very excited for Pancake to follow in her mom’s footsteps.

PEARL

4/14/26

Pearl was welcomed to GrayMare Farm in August 2026. She is Izzy’s half-sibling – another very flashy mare with a super sweet personality.  We are very excited to have another baby horse in the barn and eager to share her growth with all of you!

FUN FACT: We are still deciding on her registered show name and will be asking for your input!

MAPLE

The Heart full of Personality
December 2023

Maple came to GrayMare Farm when she was six weeks old – a tiny KuneKune pig with a big personality who quickly wins over everyone she meets. She looks forward to “Treat Tuesday”, since eating is her favorite pastime. She loves searching for leftovers as she makes her rounds from the chicken coop to the goat pen to the horse stalls.

She enjoys spending her time sharing her space and sunshine with Honey & Pepper and Bean & Sprout. She has mastered the art of “begging,” a trick she learned at an early age. Playful, social, and full of character, Maple is truly a joy to have on the farm.

HONEY AND PEPPER

A Meant to Be Pair – July 2024

Honey & Pepper were the first goats at GrayMare Farm. FUN FACT: Christina went to pick up Pepper, whom she found on a breeder’s website, and had no intention of bringing home two, but Honey had other plans. From the moment Christina arrived at the farm, Honey followed her everywhere.  She was curious, affectionate, and completely unwilling to be left behind. So, of course, Christina couldn’t say no! They both love spending time in their pasture – jumping on the rocks and basking in the sun.

BEAN AND SPROUT

The Boys with Big Personalities – February 2026

Bean & Sprout came to join us at GrayMare Farm from Katie Van Slyke. They had a slow start adjusting to the colder weather in PA, but quickly became very attached to Honey & Pepper. They love “playful sparring” with each other, determining who gets “King of the Mountain” for the day on the rocks, and licking their mineral blocks. The boys are growing strong, curious, and always ready to explore.

PEANUT, PEACHES, CREAM, AND COBBLER

A Flock of Friendship – April 2024

Peanut’s early days at GrayMare Farm were not easy. As all our peeps were growing, Peanut was often picked on by other chickens in the roost and constantly pecked because of her dislocated leg. We had no choice but to separate her into her own coop, which is when we decided to get Peaches, a Silky hen, to keep her company. They immediately bonded and created their own little world, staying close to each other and night, watching out for each other. Though Peanut is no longer with us, her story and the love and care we provided to her will always remain a lasting part of GrayMare Farm.

Today, Peaches carries Peanut’s spirit forward, now joined by Cream and Cobbler. Together, they have formed their own flock, filling the days with chatter, quiet moments in the sun, and searches for treats in the pen with Maple and the goats.

COCO, CHANEL, PRADA, AND GUCCI

The Pondside Crew – April 2025

You will find our ducks at GrayMare Farm, where they are happiest – gliding across their pond, splashing in the water, or waddling to their favorite sunny spots to lounge on the warm rocks. They move as a group, always close, always chatting in their own way, and keep an eye on everything around them. When it comes to treats, peas and watermelon are their absolute favorites.

DIEGO

The Protector – June 2014

Diego was another GrayMare Farm surprise.  While at a horse show, his breeder had their trailer parked alongside our camper, with Diego’s litter gated outside each day. We immediately knew we weren’t leaving the show without him. He was the fattest, cutest puppy we had ever seen. He is the first to let you know someone is coming; he never wants anyone visiting to leave and has the best dog smile we have ever seen. He loves spending fall weekends in the camper at Penn State football games.  Many times, you will find him stretched out, napping or snoring, while waiting for the next round of “keeping watch.”

MILO

The College Scholar – August 2019

Milo came to GrayMare Farm from the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. FUN FACT: We had no plans to get a puppy, but we fell in love with him while walking through Puppy Alley – just a little puppy with a whole lot of love. He was Christina’s college companion, and through it all – lectures, late nights, long days – he stood alongside her, making every step of the way a little easier. He loves to go for walks, is the best snuggler, and is a very loyal companion.

CHARLIE

The Quiet Observer – December 2023

Charlie was adopted as a three-year-old. She enjoys attention and loves sitting in the window. From the kitchen door, she enjoys watching the birds, the ducks, Maple, and the goats playing in the backyard.

LUCKY

The Little Miracle – May 2025

Lucky was found by accident, tucked away in a brush pile, tiny and alone, when Christina and Kyle rescued her. She was bottle-fed, from day one, and surrounded with by nothing but love. She is playful, curious, and always into a little bit of everything. She loves playing and cuddling with her baby sister, Josie Mae.

JOSIE MAE

“The Supervisor” – February 2026

Josie Mae is the newest addition to GrayMare Farm, and she wasted no time making herself known. From the moment she arrived, she stepped right into the farm life as if she had always been a part of it. She loves spending her days down in the barn, playing with her brothers and sisters, and making sure she is included in every day-to-day activity. She is full of energy and personality – whether she is chasing, exploring, or jumping into whatever the others are doing – she makes it well known that she is the BOSS. With her confident bark, she makes sure no one misses her presence. She is a seasoned traveler and loves going to horse shows with Christina.
